Terminology
What is Super Intelligence?
The term currently carries two distinct meanings, and this site keeps them separate.
- Federal usage (since September 29, 2026)
- A U.S. executive order directs federal agencies to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI." For now it refers to the same technology the law already defined as AI.
- Research meaning
- Intelligence that substantially exceeds human capability. Several labs state this as their goal. No current system has achieved it.
